Design Your Own
Formula 1 Circuits
On Real Maps.

Place waypoints on a live world map, close the loop, and instantly see how an F1 car would attack your circuit. Lap times, top speeds, cornering analysis, and speed zone visualisation — all calculated using a physics model that accounts for F1's extreme aerodynamic downforce.

A physics model built for Formula 1.

Formula 1 cars generate extreme levels of aerodynamic downforce that increase with speed. This means an F1 car actually corners more efficiently at higher speeds, producing a non-linear relationship between corner radius and minimum speed that is fundamentally different from any other racing class.

RaceTrackDesigner models this behaviour. The tool calculates a maximum cornering speed at every point on your circuit based on F1-specific grip and downforce characteristics, then applies realistic acceleration and braking capabilities to build a continuous speed profile across the full lap. The result is a lap time estimate that accounts for how long it actually takes to slow down into a corner and accelerate back out.

The F1 model is configured around a 305 km race distance, matching the minimum FIA Formula 1 Grand Prix distance. Top speed is capped at 360 km/h. Full-speed threshold is set at 280 km/h, above which the track renders in red to indicate flat-out sections.

F1 Circuit Presets

Start from any circuit on the current F1 calendar.

RaceTrackDesigner includes presets for every circuit on the current Formula 1 schedule. Select any venue — from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi, Monaco to Suzuka — and the map jumps to the exact location and zoom level to start tracing the real track layout.

You can trace the existing circuit to see how the tool's lap time compares to reality, redesign a section to test whether a layout change would improve racing, or navigate away from the presets entirely and build something completely original on any piece of land in the world.

Compare your circuit across all three vehicle classes to see how an F1 car's downforce advantage reshapes the speed profile compared to GT3 and MotoGP.

From blank map to F1 circuit in minutes.

01
Pick a starting location

Choose from 24 F1 circuit presets or navigate to any point on the map. The designer opens on Monaco by default.

02
Place waypoints

Click to drop waypoints. The circuit is drawn between them as a smooth curve. Drag any waypoint to reshape the track in real time.

03
Close the loop

Press C to close the circuit. The full F1 analysis unlocks: lap time, top speed, minimum speed, corner count, speed zones, and circuit character rating.

04
Analyse and share

Export a PNG with all stats baked in, or generate a shareable link. Switch between F1, GT3, and MotoGP to compare lap times on the same layout.

See where an F1 car pushes the limits.

Once your circuit is closed, every segment of the track is colour-coded by the calculated speed of the F1 car at that point. Red for full-speed straights, orange for fast corners, yellow for medium corners, and green for slow hairpins and chicanes. The thresholds are calibrated specifically for F1's speed range.

This visualisation immediately reveals the character of your circuit. A track dominated by red and orange is a high-speed power circuit. One with more yellow and green is a technical, driver-focused layout. The tool also rates your circuit's character — Ultra Technical, Technical, Balanced, or High Speed — based on corner density relative to lap length.

Common questions about the F1 circuit designer.

Can I design any F1 circuit layout?
Yes. You can place waypoints anywhere on the real-world map to create any layout you want. Start from any of the 24 F1 preset locations, trace real circuits, redesign sections, or build something entirely original.
How accurate are the F1 lap time estimates?
The physics model accounts for F1-specific aerodynamic downforce, acceleration, and braking characteristics. Lap times are approximations rather than a full simulation, but they are grounded in real vehicle physics and produce numbers that feel right to anyone familiar with Formula 1 timing.
Is the F1 circuit designer free?
Completely free. It runs in your browser with no account, no installation, and no data stored on any server. You can export your designs as PNG images or share them via URL.
Can I compare my circuit across different racing classes?
Yes. Switch between Formula 1, GT3, and MotoGP with one click to see how different vehicle physics change the lap time, speed zones, and character of the same circuit. This is one of the most revealing features of the tool.
