Draw one continuous course from the swim start to the finish line on a live map of anywhere on Earth, then assign each segment to a discipline: swim, bike, or run. The three legs are drawn as separate surfaces on the map, so the whole course reads at a glance.

Each leg is simulated with its own physics. The open-water swim holds a steady stroke of about 5.2 km/h no matter how the buoy line curves. The bike leg winds up to roughly 50 km/h on the straights, then brakes and corners like a real rider. The run holds a fast pace to the line. The stats panel reports every leg's distance and time in swim–bike–run order, plus an estimated overall race time — so you'll know whether that bike leg really is 40 km before anyone pumps a tyre.

When the course is right, export a GPX file for watches and bike computers, KML for Google Earth, or share a short link that lets your club — or your race committee — open and keep editing the exact same course.

Choose the athlete

Open the designer, pick the human-powered side, choose a start-to-finish course, and select the Triathlon class. The app switches to race times, leg splits, and kilometre markers.

Place waypoints from the swim start to the finish line — across the water, out along the bike roads, and through the run. Drag anything to refine it, with a 30-step undo history behind you.

A triathlon course lives on real geography.

A triathlon course is three route-planning problems wearing one race number. The swim needs real open water — a lake, a bay, a river — and satellite view lets you lay the buoy line on the water that's actually there. The bike leg needs real roads, measured honestly, because a course that's quietly 43 km instead of 40 changes everyone's race. The run needs to land back at the finish. Designing all three on one live map keeps the whole course coherent instead of stitched together from three separate tools.

The distances are up to you. The Olympic format — 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run — is the reference, but each leg is exactly as long as you draw it: lay out a 750 / 20 / 5 sprint, a 1.9 / 90 / 21.1 half, or a full-distance day out. The per-leg readouts make hitting a target format a matter of nudging waypoints, and because every design gets timed by the same three-discipline model, comparing two candidate courses is as simple as drawing them both.

Is the triathlon course designer free?

Yes. RaceTrackDesigner runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install and nothing to pay. An account is optional and only needed if you want to save courses to come back to later.

Can I design sprint, 70.3, or full-distance courses?

Yes. Each leg is exactly as long as you draw it, so you can lay out any format — a 750 m / 20 km / 5 km sprint, the 1.5 / 40 / 10 Olympic distance, a 1.9 / 90 / 21.1 half, or a full-distance course. The per-leg distance readouts make it easy to hit your target lengths.
